A: Self-Employment Tax is imposed on businesses that are not incorporated such as a Sole Proprietorships. Self-Employment tax is your portion of social security plus medicare taxes PLUS the employer's portion of Social Security and Medicare Tax.
The self-employment tax rate on a small business owner is 15.3% of your net income.
A: A minimum estimate if you are Self-Employed would be 30% of your net income (gross income less expenses). The 30% includes the 15.3% in Self-Employment taxes PLUS the minimum tax bracket of 15% for federal taxes.
